| On 19, Nov 2019

  1. Former Vice President Joe Biden – Biden is currently in the lead in the 2020 democratic race, polling in at an average of 26% of voters. Biden was previously behind Elizabeth Warren in polling, but due to the recent impeachment inquiry and recent media coverage he has bounced back into first place. Biden supports a Green New Deal which calls for the federal government to increase spending on green initiatives to fight the climate crisis. He has also promised to cut student loans for government employees and to have low-income Americans pay no federal student loans.
  2. Senator Elizabeth Warren  – Trailing behind Biden is Elizabeth Warren who currently holds 20% of voters. Warren and Biden are fighting for the head spot on the national polls and for that center stage spot on the debate stage. Warren is also a backer of the Green New Deal, but she takes it one step further as she wants to bring the United States back into the Paris Climate Accords which is a global effort to slow carbon emissions. On the topic of student loans, Warren wants to cut up to $50,000 worth of federal loans on families who make less than $250,000 and for those who make less than $100,000 they would be eligible to receive the full $50,000 forgiveness.
  3. Senator Bernie Sanders – Last of the top three presidential candidates is Bernie Sanders holding 17% of voters. Sanders was recently hospitalized due to a blockage of an artery and many questioned if the 78-year-old can even hold such a high office with his health problems. On the climate crisis, Sanders is planning a $16.6 trillion program in order to fund programs to get U.S. carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030. On the topic of education, Sanders is planning to totally end tuition at all colleges and universities in the U.S. and to forgive all student debt. He plans to fund this program with taxes on Wall Street and other wealthy individuals.
