Get Ready for Chicago!

Get Ready for Chicago!

| On 16, May 2023

Hawk Drama Society’s production of Chicago directed by Mrs. Barbi and Ms. Drennan is underway! If you’re not sure what to expect from the show, I’ve interviewed a few of the cast members to give you a sneak peek. Freshman Alejandro Diaz, playing The Master of Ceremonies, says “Audiences will see a story of murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, and treachery.”

Hudson’s production of Chicago will feature two leading ladies, Roxie Hart played by Freshman Julia Ortiz, and Velma Kelly played by Sophmomore Salome Torres and Senior Myra Vilomar. The cast has been rehearsing tirelessly since December on this show in order to “Razzle Dazzle” their peers at Hudson Catholic and make their best production yet.

Freshman Julia Ortiz, who plays the starring role as Roxie Hart, says “It’s one of the most enjoyable and amusing plays I’ve done. It was a delight to work with the cast.” She also goes on to say, “This is one of the biggest, maturest productions that I’ve done – singing and dancing wise.” Julia urges everyone to take the time and come and see this great musical!

Senior Myra Vilomar says “ My experience with Chicago has been an exhilarating ride. I’m so blessed that I was cast as Velma and I’m going to continue to enjoy my time with the cast as much as I can.” She thanks her cast for making her senior year memorable in so many ways. “I wouldn’t change any of it for the world,” she says. You can see Myra as Velma Kelly in the productions set for May 19 and 20th.
