Teacher Spotlight: Mr. McKenna

Colin McKenna is one of Hudson Catholic’s gifted history teachers. He started college attending Steven’s Institute in Hoboken and transferred to the University of Delaware. This will be Mr. McKenna’s second year teaching, and his third year coaching at the school! His favorite part about working at Hudson is the school’s environment and community.
He states the best part about being a teacher is the day-to-day interaction he has with his students. Alongside coaching, Mr. McKenna is training to run in the half marathon in Jersey City on September 23rd! McKenna’s late grandfather was the athletic director, teacher, and coach at Summit High School for 40 years and his inspiration for teaching. Although he passed away when McKenna was 2 years old, he is always reminded of his grandfather’s legacy. He anticipates impacting the hearts of many the same way his dear grandfather once had!
Some advice that Mr. McKenna has for students is to sign up for as many clubs and meet as many new people as possible. “I changed my major five times in college, and had a change of heart in my career path a million times. It’s very hard to find something you’re passionate about but it’s important to find what you’re interested in and exposing yourself to all opportunities in the school will help you do it,” Mr. McKenna says, “Life is more fun out of your comfort zone!”
