Battle of the Classes

Recently, Hudson Catholic took part in the annual Catholic School’s Week, when students paid to dress down and donate canned goods, which would be donated to different charities. But this year, each grade level was granted with the reward of points, based on their overall participation. These points went towards a special, first-of-its-kind event on Friday known as the Battle of the Classes! The anticipation for this event was high, and the excitement would only grow more and more as the battle began!
And what better way to start than with an obstacle course? The rules were simple, teams of 4 from each class had to jump rope and limbo through an agility course as fast as they could to be crowned winners. Once all 4 teams had their go at it, the Juniors were deemed victorious.
Next up was head, shoulders, knees and…cone? In this game, two classes volunteered two players to go head to head in a game of “head, shoulders, knees, toes”, but here’s the catch: once the announcer yells “cone”, players need to be the first to grab the cone in front of them if they wanted to win. After 3 rounds of the game, the seniors were our winners.
Afterwards was the caterpillar race. 3 players from each team had to walk in a straight line with two balloons to link them together. To win they had to make sure they didn’t pop the balloons, and then win the race… which was successfully done by the senior class.
Our last game was the human ladder, which Involves 4 players from each team having to lay down one by one in a line, forming a continuous human ladder to the finish line. In the end, the sophomores ended up racing to victory.
When the judges had looked for a winning class, there was something amiss…while the seniors technically won the games, the freshman had participated the most over the week, leaving the two grades tied for first place. In response to this dilemma, a hula hoop tiebreaker took place between two representative players from each grade. While all of the contestants gave it their all, the senior class was able to not only hula hoop the longest, but also be crowned as the winners of the first annual Battle of the Classes!
