Football Hawks Upset Poly Prep

On September 24, 2016, Hudson Catholic defeated Poly Prep Country Day School in nailbiter, winning with a score of 23-22 in overtime.
After being down 14-0 at halftime, the Hawks came back in the third quarter and scored the first defensive series. Aziz Wilson returned a 58-yard pick six.
Later in the game Johnathon Bates threw a 68 yard touchdown pass to Courtney Johnson. Then Bates converted another 2 point conversion to tie the game up 16-16.
The game went into overtime and then Poly Prep scored and missed the field goal to take the lead 22-16.
With 1 minute left in the game, Bates threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Khashawn Decker to put the Hawks up 22-22. Quinn Kieselowsky kicked the game winning field goal.
When asked about his players performance overall, Coach Zampella told The Commentator, “We made mistakes in the first half and we weren’t communicating. At halftime we adjusted the defense and fixed our mistakes. I have a young team with so much energy, talent, and love for the game. I knew they would start playing like a championship team.”
The Football Hawks will play DePaul on Friday September 30, 2016, at Caven Point.
