Welcome President Trump

In a stunning upset, Republican presidential nominee Donald J. Trump has won the 2016 Presidential election.
On November 8th, 2016, the American people went out to vote for their presidential candidate. Many Americans were under the impression that Hillary Clinton had this election in the bag, but after a surprisingly strong lead in last night’s polls, Donald Trump won the electoral vote with 290.
However, Hillary Clinton leads the popular vote by over 200,000 votes compared to Trump’s.
Many Americans are ecstatic and upset, and some on the left are even calling for the end of the electoral college.
Social media has exploded with both praise and outrage. However, much of the anger is aimed at Third Party candidates Gary Johnson and Jill Stein whose votes caused major loss for Clinton in Florida, among other states. Johnson had 3% of the popular vote, Stein currently has 1%.
Protests have begun in New York City after Trump’s victory and major outlash at both Donald Trump and Gary Johnson have rung throughout the country. Donald Trump, for his part, had kind things to say about Hillary Clinton during his victory speech.
“I’ve just received a call from Secretary Clinton,” Trump said. “She congratulated us. It’s about us. On our victory, and I congratulated her and her family on a very, very hard-fought campaign.”
“I mean, she fought very hard. Hillary has worked very long and very hard over a long period of time, and we owe her a major debt of gratitude for her service to our country.”
For some this is unfortunate, for others this is a godsend. Regardless, of what American people are saying, we have a 45th president and his name is Donald J. Trump.
