Student Council’s Plan: All About Fun

Hudson Catholic has elected its 2017-2018 student council. The team consists of five members: senior president Katie Boyle, senior vice president Reina Garcia, senior treasurer Giovanni Marmora, and junior secretaries Arlette Huesca and Aliyah Rivera.
When asked about what she wants to accomplish for this school year, President Boyle said, “I want to have everyone involved in school community, more dances, more fundraising, and more fun activities. Overall, I just want everyone to have a fun and enjoyable school year.”
It’s a team effort: Secretary Huesca also has high expectations for a fun filled school year, with more planned than last year.
“I was on the student council last year and this year our goal is to continue the momentum that we had in the beginning of the school year last year,” Huesca said. “I would hope there will be at least three school dances, a junior prom, and something special in the spring that I have in mind. It is very hard when you have to [please] five hundred students, but we will give it our all. I am looking forward to this year and I hope everyone enjoys it!”
Spirit Week is slowly getting closer, but it seems this year’s newly elected student council will have to deal with some low expectations.
“I expect Spirit Week to be the same as every other year,” said senior Devin Schelmety unenthusiastically.
However, President Boyle is determined to make Spirit Week one to remember. When asked if there was any new ideas for Spirit Week, Boyle replied, “Yes, but I can’t tell anyone at the moment.”
It seems that for this administration, one thing is for sure: the student council has more planned than we anticipate. The Commentator will keep you updated on all upcoming events at Hudson Catholic!
