Poetry: “Toxicity”

Poetry: “Toxicity”

| On 26, Oct 2018

By Javier Herquinigo, Arlette Huesca, & Mamady Magassouba

Girl: “I’m as pure as water

Can’t you realize I’m someone’s daughter?”

Girl: “Once I give you love, you’ll just trade it away

Know that I’m a woman who has things to say.”

Boy: “Even water can make things boil

We’re like water mixing with oil.”

Boy: “What you say never makes sense

Please stop using that as a defense.”

Girl: “How do I mend a broken heart?

My entire world has fallen apart.”

Girl: “I want to run, I want to hide

From all the pain you caused me inside.”

Boy: “Emotionally numb.

Do you feel them?”

Boy: “You act so still and frozen,

Yet you dimly sparkle like a dying gem.”

Girl: “I know I make you drool

But see that I don’t want you, fool.”

Girl: “You’ll just use me as a tool

This conversation is over, now excuse me while I go back to school.”

Boy: “There’s so many fish in the sea

Can’t be too hard to find another for me.”

Boy: “You’d only use me to go on another shopping spree

At least apart, I’ll finally feel free!”
