Poetry: “My Hair”

Poetry: “My Hair”

| On 19, Oct 2018

My hair is my crown

Something I will not let fall down

There were times where I was ashamed

To embrace my voluminous mane

Thought I looked like a beast

Who hadn’t been slain

Or a wild animal not detained

Surrounded by girls with hair like silk

Insecurities began to invade my mind

As time proceeded I was self-assured

My hair, I no longer deplored

I realized looks do not define your beauty within

But you should always be comfortable with the skin you’re in

Beauty and looks only scratch the surface

Without them you still have a purpose

Never let your crown fall

Because people will pray on your downfall

Always be you, for it is what you should do

We are all different, you cannot compare me to you

We are beautiful and unique, no matter what we do.
