New Year, New Lunch
That’s right, Hawks! This year at Hudson Catholic we’ve got a new school lunch. For my fellow foodies out there, this is a big deal. Lunch is a crucial period in a student’s day, and whether you’ve got first or third lunch, we all need the right nutrition to get us through the afternoon. From popcorn shrimp to chocolate muffins, the cafeteria is crawling with goodies. But is this new lunch really as good as it seems?
Yay or Nay?
I interviewed some fellow classmates and asked their opinions on the new lunch, and most were positive, but for some, cheeseburgers weren’t going to cut it. The first person I interviewed was carefully dissecting her burger, and by the look on her face I could tell she wasn’t having a very good time. “It looks like a dead animal,” were her exact words. She then attempted to take a bite out of it, but ended up spitting it out. “This meat is dripping with grease!” Obviously that was a poor review, but I wasn’t giving up just yet! The next person was devouring his cheese steak: this was gonna be good…
“It’s the best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth,” he mumbled while struggling to shove at least 10 fries in. “It’s so good I could literally eat five more—want some?” I decided not to take him up on that offer, but I was glad to see that some people were enjoying the new lunch after all. But after receiving opinions from others, I decided to judge for myself. Chicken strips and cheese fries were the deciding factor to whether I would vote ‘yes’ or ‘no’ toward the new lunch, and the moment I took a bite out those fries and let the cheese melt on my tongue, I knew that lunch would now be my favorite period.
Price$
Ranging from $1 to the questionable $7, this new lunch certainly comes with a price! As delicious as the food may be, most people have second thoughts when it comes to their costs. Don’t get me wrong, I love food, but do I really want to pay $4.50 for popcorn chicken? This is what some people had to say:
“I mean it’s pretty good food, but $2 is kinda expensive for fries,” is what one student thought, while another said “When you think about it, it’s a fair price for really, really awesome food…have you had their cookies?” To answer her question, yes, yes I have, and they’re amazing (and only a buck!).
While others are hungrily searching for extra change at the bottom their book bags, I’ll be sitting back and enjoying my cup of chocolate fudge. The next time you find yourself in the cafeteria, don’t hesitate and get yourself some of these great new menu items!
