Hawk to Hawk: Freshman Feeling Frustration
Arlette Huesca | On 22, Oct 2017
Dear Hawk to Hawk,
Hi! I’m currently a freshman and I am having trouble fitting in. Right now I am failing math and I cannot comprehend my class. I need help because I do not want to fail, and I want to be able to talk to new people. Are there any clubs that you recommend? Or any study habits?
Sincerely,
Frustrated Freshman
Dear Frustrated,
As a freshman you will make many mistakes and that is okay! The key is to learn from these mistakes and to make sure not to make them again.
To begin, I would recommend checking out the National Honor Society with Mrs. McGady. Since you are a freshman I am assuming that you take Algebra 1. You can go to her room and on her front door she has the schedule posted for the tutors.
Also I would recommend paying attention in class, asking questions, and reviewing your notes everyday before the day of the test. If you still do not understand it you can always watch video tutorials or you can simply find some practice worksheets online.
Good luck!
